Mr. Swanson is president of Global Equity Corporation and itsholding company GEC Technologies Holdings, Ltd. He alsoserves as president of SINOWIND Technologies Limited, a manufacturer of leading-edge wind turbines. From 1970 to 1990 he worked for the People to People organization, serving as Chairman of the People to People Citizen Ambassador Program from 1978 to 1990. During this period he administered numerous internationalevents in China, Japan, the Soviet Union, Europe and the U.S. During this time Mr. Swanson focused on strengthening bilateralties between the U.S. and China, and between the U.S. and the former Soviet Union.
Mr. Swanson co-chaired the International Conference on Trade and EconomicDevelopment (Beijing, 1987), which brought 4000 CEO’s together in Beijing to establisheconomic ties and technology transfers. Along with US Attorney General Edward Meese,Swanson co-chaired the US China Legal Summit (Beijing, 1986), which brought 5000 legal professionals together to assist China in drafting new economic legislation. He also cochaired the International Trade and Economic Development Conference (Seattle, 1990), the first major US-China conference after 1989.
Since 1978, he organized thousands of delegations of governmental officials, scientists, legal specialists, banking and investment firms and others from all countries to visit China, both to share technology and to help improve international relations with China. From 1990 to 1994 Mr. Swanson co-chaired the International Training Program for Russian Bankers, along with US Federal Reserve Board Governor John LaWare and the heads of 13 European Central Banks. He chaired the effort of bringing Junior Achievement to the Soviet Union, establishing Western business training in thousands of schools throughout Russia and its former satellite countries.
Mr. Swanson serves as president of the Foundation for International Cooperation andDevelopment, Vice Chairman of Youth -- Creators of the 21st Century, Director ofKurchatov Energy Corporation, Advanced Medical Devices Corporation, DecaturIndustries Limited, the International Fund for Privatization, and other corporations and foundations. He has served as senior advisor to Gucci Corporation, Shaw GroupCorporation, Borden Chemical Corporation, Olin Ordnance, GSE Systems, General Physics Corporation, Patton Boggs LLP, and other multinational companies. He has served as an advisor to Chevron Corporation, Exxon/Mobil, Rally Energy, Tethyan Copper, and several Chinese companies, including SINOPEC and PetroChina.
